Living Wage Opportunity Project
Burst for Prosperity has partnered with the Center for Advanced Manufacturing Puget Sound (CAMPS) and CARES of Washington to test a career advancement project that targets unskilled and under-skilled low-income adults hoping to build careers in the manufacturing industry. A life coach has been integrated into this training-to-placement-to-advancement (TPA) program that provides employees with barrier resolution support that empowers them to confidently pursue career advancement opportunities through continued post-secondary education.
The TPA program is testing the effectiveness of an accelerated technical training (4-weeks) for entry-level manufacturing positions, with a specific emphasis on preparing the training graduates to move up the wage ladder. The design of this project intentionally brings local manufacturers, community organizations, and community colleges together in an innovative way to serve low-income adults interested in pursuing a manufacturing career.
